At Cinetis, a Swiss multimedia software company, we focus on sophisticated, yet user friendly and effective solutions. We develop software that is intuitive enough to be used by every consumer. At the same time, our software is based on state-of-the-art algorithms that satisfy professional requirements.
Smoovee started as a collaborative project with the IDIAP research institute. The aim was to stabilize Super8 and 16mm film digital scans that often show strong jitter. The server version of the software has been used on more than 1300 hours of film, automatically. Smoovee stems from this in-depth effort.
Pierre Ihmle, chairman and co-founder, contributes his scientific know-how and management experience to the project. Pierre is currently involved at EPFL within its innovation and entrepreneurship unit. He regularly teaches in executive programs at IMD, a business school in Lausanne. He is an earthquake seismologist by training, educated at MIT, Cambridge, USA. Apparently, he has not really quit working on jittery stuff.
Jean-Pierre Gehrig, CEO and co-founder, is an electrical engineer with several year of experience in software development and in embedded system design acquired at University of applied sciences in Sion. Jean-Pierre believes in simple, user friendly interfaces, and nicely written code. If you like Smoovee's design and usability, let him know.
Samuel Gaist, software engineer, an electrical engineer trained at the University of applied sciences in Sion, contributes constantly to our software projects. He has been instrumental in developing the initial Smoovee web service. A passionate motor biker, he knows what vibration means.
Patrick Schönmann, software engineer, got his Master's in computer science at EPFL, a leading university in Europe. During his studies, he has been involved with a large, web based, image collection effort. In short, he is our metadata and web expert. Fascinated by video processing and vision applications, he will be key in developing Smoovee further.
Many thanks to Dr Jean-Marc Odobez and Philip Abbet from IDIAP Research Institute !
